Dangerous Influences

Friend, the road on which God desires we follow Him, is fraught with dangerous influences that vie for our attention.

Yes, the road of this life is full of signposts that read, "evil lurks", "danger", "do not enter", "turn away," "beware."

But, we put our hands up to block our eyes from seeing these signs..

We don't want to see what they say, we just want to walk down those side roads for a little bit.

We feel we are strong and will not be led astray; we just want to see and experience "that life."

But, all those roads, have evil lurking on them and we must be strong, and resist entering and walking down them.

Addictions of all kinds are lying in wait for our souls on those side roads that seem so enticing..

Even fake religions are laying in wait to tempt us away from the One True God.

There is no end to what evil devises to lure us into their clutches; fill us with unholy desires and destroy our minds.

And, those demons hope to also kill the body as quickly as they can.

This is why we quickly descend into full blown addictions; evil works diligently to get us "hooked" so that we will die in our sins.

There's anger, lust, sloth, pride, envy, greed and glutonny from which to stay away.

One demon enters to introduce his "specialty" and when he has set up shop so to speak, hundreds and thousands of demons now have easy access to drag us even deeper into the evil realm.

And drag us they do because it is their mandate from satan.

Some of us are stronger than others; able to indulge a "little" and resist the blooming of the sinful ways.

No matter to the demons; they only have to keep us otherwise occupied in "minor flirting" with sin, until our death.

During this time of "minor flirting" (in our eyes) we are intoxicated enough for the evil spirits to lure us into other "thinking" that justifies the "minor sins" we engage in.

Soon we have a litany of evils smouldering within.

Woe to us the day one pops to the surface for dominance! We will have allowed it so long that the clutches are deep in the recesses of the brain and flesh!

If we don't willingly look at ourselves and begin to hate the sin which besets us, we will never call out to God for Holy Help and we will die in sin having shown God that we don't need Him.

When He says we do and should!
