Hiding From God

02/12/2022 15:33

Friend, many of us are hiding from God.

We have various reasons for this; we're angry at God because of loss, poverty, we feel He could do more for us, we expect He wants too much from us, we're sinners and want to continue sinning. The list goes on.

So we hide.

Many of us spend our whole lifetime hiding from Him.

Oh yes, we're out in the open being gay and frivilous, filling our time with many things.

We show God how hard we work, the hours we have to put in to survive, the time it takes with our children, the time the world says we must make for ourselves in sports and leisure pursuits.

We're just too busy for Him. (We're "not ready," yet.)

When He tries to get our attention, we continue to hide ourselves in stuff that we pile around to hide from Him.

But today is the day when He wants to speak to you.

Maybe you're facing something terrible, but now you will listen.

Maybe you have a moment on your sick bed.

Maybe you're waiting for the next thing to begin.

Maybe it's finally time; you've run out of excuses and He won't stop speaking to you.

"Okay God, you have my attention for a minute," you think.

Friend, let go of all the hangups; of all the excuses; of all the time constraints!

God understands. He has never left your side. He's always close by.

He knows you've been hiding and filling your time with things so you don't have to acknowledge Him.

But friend, your name is on His list of souls that came to earth.

When you got here you were off and running in the opposite direction (you thought - for He is everywhere.)

You are one of the stray sheep.

He, being The Good Shepherd, must continue to look for you to bring you back to His Fold for sustenance and care.

All Heaven is watching to see if He does not go after that one sheep that is hiding far away, under a big rock, in a cave, whatever.

Until you take your last breath, He will be waiting close by to snatch you up by The Shepherd's long crook, by your neck to save you from falling off a cliff into Hell.

In reality we can only pretend to hide from Him.

He knows where we are.

He sees us and all we do.

Most of it does not please Him; it hurts the heart of God.

So today, will you turn to Him?

Will you listen?

Will you recognise Jesus The Good Shepherd?
