Mary Magdalene

Friend, many people think that God does not have a place for women in His Kingdom; His Creation.

Many people read the Bible and think women are denigrated.

Many men have come to the conclusion in their own minds that women are for abusing and using.

Certain religions place women in very low esteem.

Other secular thinkers believe women have no human rights.

Sadly women have been oppressed by men.

The Bible indicates none of that thinking is what God has ordained for women, when studied properly.

One instance in The Bible stands out; and that is the account of Mary Magdalene.

She is mentioned as a woman who was delivered by Jesus, from having seven demons.

Luke 8:2
And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

She and many other women followed Him as He developed His itinerant ministry, walking from village to village teaching, healing and displaying His Power over the earth.

Once saved we desire to be of service and this is how Jesus gathered His followers and helpers.

The Bible mentions that he had an addditional seventy followers as well as the twelve disciples as He visited villages, spreading the Good News to the Israelites.

Mary Magdalene was at The Cross with His mother, Mary and a few others. She saw Him crucified.

Early on the Sunday morning before dawn, she went to the tomb where He had been laid.

Mark 16:1
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

The huge stone had been rolled back and the guards who could not have rolled it back, and would not, under rule of death if they did, were gone.

Mary stooped down to see if His body was there.

It was not.

But two Heavenly angels were seated at either ends of where His body had been placed; head and feet.

They spoke to her, "Why do you weep?"

She answered, "He is gone and I do not know where."

Mary Magdalene turned to see someone standing outside the tomb.

He spoke to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?

And she, thinking he was the gardener, asked Him to tell her where the body of Jesus had been placed.

Jesus then answered her, " Oh, Mary," and she immediately realised He was Jesus, alive before her in the flesh!

She was spiritually blind before this incident; but now could spiritually see.

She was a believer in what Jesus had been teaching, but now she saw clearly His Power over death. This opened her eyes spiritually; her brain had to believe what it was seeing!

She moved towards Him to embrace Him, but He instructed her not to touch Him yet, but to go to the Disciples gathered in Jerusalem and tell them what she had seen.

JOHN 20:11-18

11But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

17Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

Luke 24:10
It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

In this Holy Scripture we find an account of Holy God using a woman first to be the bearer of Good News that Jesus was alive and indeed was the One who Scripture had prophesied would come to earth, be crucified, and rise from the dead, as a Holy Blood Sacrifice for the people's sins; fulfilling a New Covenant with the peoples of the earth.

Yes, God values women.

God loves His Creation of the female species of all He has created throughout His Kingdom.

And we're all held to account for how we treat each other.

Not one of us is better than the other.

We should forgive as Christ has Forgiven us.

Forgiveness is an important principle of Christianity.
