Meditation Verse

Scripture
The Lord is not slack concerning His Promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9  KJV

The disciple Peter who wrote the above verse in the Word of God, knew Jesus intimately as Friend, Teacher. Lord, and God.

Matthew 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother,  casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. V.19 And, He saith unto them; follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. V 20 And they strraightway left their nets, and followed Him.

They walked and talked together undertaking many journeys over a three year period, in brotherly love.

The disciples learned how to pray effectively, about the Kingdom, the Omniscience and Omnipotence of God first hand through their association with Jesus.

Peter is the disciple who walked on water while focused on Jesus but the minute he took his focus off Him, Peter began to sink again.

Peter, among many others, witnessed His teachings, healings, and the rebuke of those who opposed Him. They saw His Goodness, His Intelligence, His Purity, His Provision and every aspect of God in Him; God in the form of a man Who would bleed like them and cry out in anguish on the Cross at Calvary.

He speaks with authority to us when he says the Lord is not slack concerning any Promise of His for us; but also here specifically, the one regarding His return.

Yes, the Second Coming of Jesus is a Promise to the believers worldwide that will occur in God's Perfect Timing.

Peter says the reason for what we see as a delay in his Second Coming, is the fact that many have not come to Him yet and He is giving them time in which to do so.

Repentance, a turning away from the way we were headed and a turning to God; to His Way, in belief with a desire to know Him and walk in His Will, is the Turniing Point in a soul's life when he/she becomes subject to the Promises of God - Eternal Life being a Gift, undeserved.

Jesus desires not one of us to perish, but for all to come to Him for Eternal Life with Him and The Father and Spirit, through our repentance of sin, receiving Forgiveness and the turning to Jesus for Salvation.

He is longsuffering; and this is a quality He desires we take on and develop, for our fellow brothers and sisters.

His Promises will come to pass - meditate on these words.

Prayer.
Lord, thank You for being longsuffering towards me. Help me to become more like You daily and to be longsuffering towards those who oppose me and You. Give me understanding please, of what Eternal Life means to my soul. In Jesus's Name. Amen.
