Meditation Verse

Scripture.  One thing have I desired of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.  Psalm 27:4  KJV

King David wrote this psalm.  He says he is going to seek after the Lord and the implied meaning is that he will diligently seek to know God. David uunderstands that if he does this, his days on this earth will be like dwelling with the Lord in His Kingdom, and he will see the Beauty of the Lord and always have access to enquire in the temple of the Lord.

In previous verses within this chapter David sings that the Lord is his Light and Salvation, and Strength therefore, of whom should he be afraid?

How true for us today!  We stand in the Strength of Almighty God and all who oppose us, oppose Him. He cannot be overcome, and in Him we are overcomers.

David says he just sings praises to the Lord and asks for God's Mercy in all his trials.  He also asks the Lord to teach him of His Ways.

Lastly David says he waits on the Lord.  He does not go out to fight battles unaided by the Lord.  He waits and prays, and praises and learns, gaining strength so that through him, God may be glorified, when the enemy sees what little David did to gain the victory.

God desires to do this for us today and has laid down this chapter of beautiful scriptures to teach us.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the psalms of David which teach us so much about You.  Help me to be faithful in waiting on You while I learn about You.   Give to me, your Peace and Comfort and Life and Truth and fill me with Godly Wisdom, in Your Mighty Name, I pray. Amen.
