Romans 14:12

Romans 14:12  So then, therefore everyone of us shall give an account of himself to God.  (The Pure Word.)

The Apostle Paul writes the above Scripture to the church in Rome.

Before writing this verse, he has been giving written spiritual advice, based on what he has come to know about the Authority of Jesus, The Son of God, whom Paul had heretofore been against.

Paul was led to the Holy Understanding that gentiles were welcome in the Kingdom of God; Christ having died for them also

The First Covenant was with Abraham and The Law was given to Moses for the chosen nation of Israelites. One had to be converted, as in Abraham's day he circumcised, by God's Holy Order, all the men in his household - some Jews and some gentiles.

But now, after Jesus's Death and Resurrection things have changed to The New Covenant (Testament,)

Paul tells them to live peaceably with all men; the Law is Holy - Righteous - Good, we should make no provision for the flesh to reign, we can eat anything - do not to hold it against another, respect government authority because they do not rule without God's Authority, live peaceably with all people, all righteousness comes from God - man has none of himself, Christ is our Conqueror of sin - our Righteousness.

He covers many more points in Romans, and all the other Epistles he wrote to the early churches. The words are straight from God Himself we can be sure of that.

This verse is quite confronting when given a bit of thought.

We're all going to die.

Now is the time to think about; if you were to die in the next 24 hours, what would your account of yourself sound like?

In the next 24 hours could you fix all the leaky holes in your story?

Could you shine up the parts that are ugly?

Would you have time to rewrite your mistakes, your regrets?

All those words, the anger, the violence, perpetrated on others, could you erase that?

Maybe you've physically hurt people you loved, worked for, someone you just didn't care for?

How is your account of yourself stacking up?

Maybe you have a very beautiful home and car. Will those material things matter to God? Will He appreciate and account it to your righteousness that you have accumulated toys and things?

Maybe He'll be impressed how you have become addicted to drugs and alcohol due to the bad things that have happened to you when you have blamed God for your problems?

What about the "thing" you were born with. Maybe you can point a finger at Him in blame?

Those few lies you've been telling yourself and others - will He let those go?

What is your story looking like now?

Are you happy with it?

If not, there is still time in the 24 hours to be saved from the damnation that is to come, if you front up to God under your own power.

This is why Jesus died.

This is the reason He went to The Cross.

His Blood will cover your sins.

BUT, you have to accept Him and what He did for you at The Cross.

Not just in words, but by His Holy Spirit.

A surrendered heart and mind, knowing the horror of Christ's death; that your sins sent Him to The Cross.

It was the only Way for The Father to Forgive you.

His Own Son's Death and Resurrection is your Righteousness.

It's the only one He will accept.

If you love His Son for what He did for you, then The Father will accept you, and remember your sins no more, for your faithfulness, to Him.

Is that not a Great Gift of Love?
